This is a growing and successful engineering group that partners with the sales team to bring custom engineered solutions to customers such as Cessna, Lockheed, Boeing, Bombardier and Gulfstream. The successful candidate for this position will be traveling to customer locations, making test flights on corporate and commercial jets, and gathering data for later analysis. To validate the data, the AE will do testing at on site and off site laboratory facilities. Estimated overnight travel is 25% to 50%, depending on the projects. In this position the AE will provide technical support for the Aircraft Market, working with the sales and engineering team (which includes thermal/vibration/acoustical, project, and design engineers). The AE will be utilizing their engineering skills to solve customer problems by engineering solutions. A plus would be an understanding of aircraft systems, the interaction of thermal insulation and noise control treatments, and specific aerospace design requirements. AEs lacking some of these skills might still be considered if they have mechanical engineering strengths in other areas that are transferable to the aircraft industry.
Key job duties: Analysis, laboratory validation, and field testing. Preferred Qualifications: - Working knowledge of laboratory environments. - New product development experience - Testing systems experience, preferably related to thermal and acoustical data. - BS or MS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering - Experience in technical service, project engineering and/or applications engineering where rapid solutions and a quick turnaround are required on limited (up to one month) projects - A successful record of customer interaction, good technical presentation skills, interpersonal abilities, and multi-tasking while maintaining objectivity. - Competent with programs: Microsoft office products (Word, Access, Project); CAD (Catia) - Basic lab and instrumentation experience - Vibration control and shock protection experience a big plus. - Materials background such as PVC, polyurethane, polyolefin, SBR, PVC/SBR alloys, various foams, Fiberglass, damping composites, and other acoustical and vibration management products a big plus - Understanding of the structural part of acoustics and vibration a big plus |
