I would like to create a community around my company or organization. Should I do this as an Organization type member or as a Group?
While Organizations or Groups have similar functions, they are quite different. First, there are only two types of Members: Persons and Organizations. A Group is a collection of members regardless of whether the members are Persons or Organizations. Any Person or Organization can create and participate in a Group.
Members (Persons or Organizations) and Groups share the following features:
- Photos
- Documents
- Forums
Members have the following features that Groups do not:
- Classifieds
- Blogs
- Polls
- Videos
Groups have the following features that Members do not:
- Easily send email to multiple people at once
- Forum viewed by only the members of the Group

If you are a company or other organization, we recommend creating a Organization type Membership. Your Organization can then create a Group. For example, your Organization might want a user group or a discussion group to be seen by your Group only.
